Oceana Roll!!!

".........I got boards to bend, I got planks to nail
I got charts to make, I got seas to sail
I'm gonna build me a boat
With these two hands
It'll be a fair curve
From a noble plan
Let the chips fall where they will
Cause I've got boats to build
Sails are just like wings
The wind can make em sing
Songs of life songs of hope
Songs to keep your dreams afloat
I'm gonna build me a boat
With these two hands..............
Shores distant shores
There's where I'm headed for
Got the stars to guide my way
Sail into the light of day.............."

Guy Clark

While North freezes, we are enjoying a great spell of weather in these parts......Time for boats to be out, sails to be set, and spirits to soar.......:) :)

The mediterannean in America........

There's a charming, historic Greek settlement called Tarpon Springs, not far from the city I live in. It's a delightful place with sea-salts in the air, fresh seafood on sale and a Greek deli at every corner. But that's not what this place is famous for......It is popular as the "sponge capital" of the world......Back in 1930's the sponge industry here was flourishing till the sponge beds were contaminated and destroyed by bacteria in 1940's. The revival of the natural-sponge industry happened in 1980's. They say the place has retained the atmosphere introduced by Greek sponge divers over a hundred years ago...... .......from harvesting sponges to selling them, ............An alluring place, indeed! :)
The lamp was shot there while we visited the quaint li'l town last year.I lost most of my pics when I changed my laptop......the blog wasn't up and running in those days.........Guess, I'll have to re-visit the town sometime to bring it here on the blog .......
