Let the sunshine in

Scenes from a cafe 1
As I type from my "igloo" :D, I think I am getting a wee bit tired of this, what weathermen are calling, "Arctic wave" that socked us in the last few days. These images from a tony, cozy cafe on one late winter afternoon, are my antidote to the chill outside.

Scenes from a cafe 3

My favorite pick-me-up: freshly brewed coffee with a touch of roast, a touch sweet and topped with dollops of whipped cream. Java-heaven!!!!!:)

Motor-art!

Harley Museum 2

Harleys make a comeback here, albeit a little differently this time!;D I am wiped from the "being-pushed-around-in-every-direction" week that it has been for moi and I am glad it will be over soon. No time to go out and click, no new images to share so I had to dig into my archives. These images from the Harley Davidson Museum and the gift shop are for my husband who just retired (very, very reluctantly) his motorcycle for the winters and is currently in denial ;DDD Have a great weekend! :)

A cozy weekend.......

Sung as a bug in a rug :)

spent indoors......Time to snuggle and indulge in some weekend woolgathering :)

Warmth on a grey winter day

This lamp had such warmth about it on the grey winter-y weekend we just got done with.

All that glitters.......

Light in my living room 2

Late afternoon light that greets me when I reach home after a day's work is enough for me to forget my weariness and dash for my camera, the moment I get in from the front door :)

A small corner of charm :)

Playful light

Back from work, last evening, I walked into our home to find this magical light filling up the bedroom. And now that the long weekend is upon us I get to enjoy our newly done up pad a little more than on "normal" days :)

Warm winters

Fireplace

Winter's far from over in these parts.....but I don't mind it. Not yet. A warming log in the fireplace and cuddly blanket on the bed...a husband who cracks a joke a minute...and books and movies to keep company. Winters are not so bad after all :)

Dream a little dream with me :)

Dream a little dream with me :)

"The wall is silence, the grass is sleep,
Tall trees of peace their vigil keep,
And the Fairy of Dreams with moth-wings furled
Plays soft on her flute to the drowsy world."
~Ida Rentoul Outhwaite

The teeny weeny bundle of joy is a friend’s. My heart is warm and all is right with the world :)

The Graduates

The Graduates :D

:) We graduated yesterday in our academic regalia, amidst radiant smiles and bushels of congratulatory wishes. One chapter ends, another begins. I am gonna miss all that the old one entailed.......As my husband and I move on to find our niche in Corporate America, I am gonna miss working with him (outside home, that is :D). Did I tell you before that we worked for the same advisor, had more or less taken same classes, were an unbeatable team in projects we undertook together, and were what you can call BOGO offer, that's "Buy One Get One free" for the acronym-challenged??? :D

Calla

Care for a plastic Calla Lily?

Poetry on my Shower Curtain ;)

Poetry on my Shower Curtain ;)

What's on yours??? :D

I am under house/lab arrest currently. My husband and I are defending our theses in the final week of this month and there's hardly any time for anything other than research and thesis work right now. That explains the series of indoor shots here. I'm itching to step out, more so with the weather being fabulous and light glorious in late afternoons but--- if wishes were horses!!!!!

"The Lamp in a Window"

The Lamp in my Window

"She left a lamp lit in the window,
To shine it's beacon soft and warm,
In case a stranger might be wandering,
Cold and hungry, far from home."

For some strange reason I find this one image very reminiscent of the Dickensian world. Must be my imagination running amok!!!!

Faith

Faith

This was shot in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist at Savannah where we took refuge from the intermittent rains. I had almost forgotten about it till I saw Ash's beautiful "Prayer" post today. This elderly gentleman's head bowed in prayer compelled me to take this image though I generally will let people be alone in their intensely private moments.

I have lived a little more than the quarter of a century on this earth and as I grow, my faith acquires different dimensions too. It's no more religious but it's as powerful as ever in the smallest of the creations and acts and beliefs. As we all start a new week, all I want to say is Keep the faith :)

My Zen Spot

My Zen Corner-I

We are back from our jaunt to Savannah. It's a charming town but it was a totally rained out weekend for us there. The rain let up for just a coupla hours in two days but that was too little to enjoy the town. We did stroll around, soaking to our bones, trying to make the most of our trip.

Meanwhile it's good to come back home and still have a day to ourselves before the frenetic pace of week catches up with us. I decided to put up my favorite corner of our home here while I sift through a hundred odd photos I took in Savannah all the time trying to save my lens under the umbrella. Hope you all are having a great weekend :)

Glass Ceiling-I

When Annie displayed her version of Glass Ceiling, I promised to show her mine. We will not only make good traveling companions, Annie, we will make great camera-buddies too!!!! :)

On India's 60th year of independence.

60 Years of Independence

Funny, how when you are millions of miles away from home, simple things like a Rs. 5 (that's about one-eighth of a dollar) plastic flag collected from home becomes a precious part of your life. Here's to India and its 60 years of freedom :)

Rythm

Swaying leaves

For someone who's shy to sway with abandon, take a leaf out of the palm's book (any puns here are unintended)..this one outside the neighborhood's Dairy Queen's window had me spellbound behind my lens. I must have clicked a dozen odd pics till my husband decided I have gone bonkers and walked out of the place to enjoy his banana split in peace outside. Guess there are times when indulging each other's idiosyncrasies is beyond spousal patience!!! :D

Love's warm glow???? :)

Sunset

"There are two kinds of light--the glow that illuminates, and the glare that obscures."- James Thurber

An abstract image shot at my favorite time of the day. Me and my husband were back from school (yes we are still struggling our way thro' books, exams, semesters and other scholarly demands of school life), relaxing now that we are done with the Spring semester..........when lying on our couch, i shot this image of fading sun from behind the chair that lay between me and the patio window.

On this day today, 7 years back, we got around to being together (we have been married for 4 months now and have a long way to go) and no we haven't felt the seven year itch yet :) Here's to all that we share and will continue to.

Have a great weekend, all :)

Denizens of the deep???? :) One of the caretakers for the manatees here at the local zoo!
