Cà d'Zan Mansion

Ca'd Zan Mansion - II

These are from the happier sunnier times in Florida : the terracotta palazzo of John and Mable Ringling of the Ringling Circus fame.

As we reached the end of our stay in Florida, we tried to "do" places around us that we had not earlier. Ca d'Zan had been on the list for long and it was about time we paid it a visit. The Venetian style mansion overlooking Sarasota bay had me click-happy for the better part of the afternoon we spent there :) The details in tiles, balconies, stairways, wrought iron grills were too pretty to ignore.

I spent many summers in Sarasota in my younger years...unfortunately I never visited this :( Did you visit Siesta Key?? Supposedly some of the whitest beaches in the world.
It was FUN!

So, maybe I have missed something....are you not in Florida anymore?? I thought the Seattle move was tabled for a while??

Wow, what a fanciful, magical place. I'm so interested to see it, Moi.

Liking the open mailbox lids to the panting dog was brilliant!

Just what I want a plain simple little cottage. :)

Not only happier times, but wealthier times as well. Your photos show the splendor of this "Castle" quite beautifully. The details are awesome.

Moi, the movie is quite nice. I recommend it, especially Anne Bancroft dancing around in this house.

Wow, amazing place, never imagined such an architectural beauty in Florida. How do you find places?

to me it looks like the sort of 'castle' that Rapunzle would let down her hair from :) Although I suppose you might find her in more of an English setting.
Anyway, it's intricate and beautifully designed. I'd love to visit and see it for real.

Fabulous photos! I love that place, and you remind me that it has been far, FAR too long since I have been there! Great eye you have! Keep up the good work, wherever you go!

I've heard of this building. Your photos give me all the details that I crave. It is just an awesome place to have lived. I'm glad it can still be seen by visitors. Wasn't Ringling from Connecticut?

I love this place. I used to visit there often when I lived in Sarasota. It's a great place to lug the camera around :)
