Mellow warmth

Earthy 3

This fall will be my first "real" autumn in this country and I can feel the intense anticipation building within me....... And I swear on my way to work today, I spotted some leaves that have already turned red (not yellow, not orange, but a deep shade of red). I would have thought it's too early but then what do I know about fall, having lived in Florida for the last three ones!!!! :)

Anyways, when I stepped out a coupla days ago to shoot in that "golden hour" when the fading sun bathes the entire landscape in a light so lusciously honeyed, I knew I'd be happy with whatever magic my camera makes. Honestly, I love that cognac glow in the first one and the warmth of the others makes me want to raise a toast "To Light! To Life!" :)

I can't wait until we start getting the fall colors either. I love the colors in your leaves but with all those holes I wonder if the bugs got them instead of the fall :)

I like the curled bark too.

Nope...not too early. The first colors are peaking out. You'll never tire of this, though I suspect this year will be the best since it's your first. Lovely shots...

Beautiful shots, with that special light that you mention ( even though we're technically a month short of fall).
As someone famous said, " Give me the coldest & harshest of springs than the most glorious fall, for there is death in the air."

Your words are so descriptive Moi. They make me feel your anticipation too. Beautiful shots, especially the holey leaves. Great job.

Your thinking about the Fall - I'm still wondering when the Summer will arrive in the UK :(

Before I read the first word of your entry, that warm, honeyed light leaped off of my screen and into my consciousness. Most photos fail to capture that magic moment when the light is that soft and rich. These? In spades.

To life, indeed! It's how we toast our happiness and health in my family, and next time we do just that, I'll have these in mind. Stunning.

You co-won last week's Caption This, btw - congrats! New CT is now up, and as always it's a treat when you drop by.

Hello Moi!
Beautiful captures~especially love that first one!
Enjoy your first Fall! Fall is bittersweet to me, because it means the end of gardening for months, and winter on its way, but if I don't look ahead with dread, I enjoy fall with it's wonderful colors,& scents!
Enjoy enjoy enjoy Moi!

Cat

lovely shots moi :), I am glad your enjoying your first fall in illinois. I don't get to see much of fall in california except in my campus which thankful is a little green. But the beaches more than make up for it :)

Lovely, Moi. That's my absolute favourite time of day for taking photos. And yes, there have been a lot of red leaf sightings. I just refuse to photograph them in August! ;)

Mellow yellow indeed. Yes, yes..."To light, to life!"
Glorious shots Moi!
A few of our leaves are beginning to turn here too, so no, it's not too early. But I protest! It's too early for me! I'd like summer to go on and on....
