Mother Road continues.........

Blue Swallow Motel, Tucumcari, NM

As we drove further west on I40 towards Albuquerque, there was no way we could have avoided the very towns that were forgotten when the interstates came into place......see if you can spot the famed Blue Swallow Motel (Tucumcari, NM) in the background in the top shot :)

While some motels have been revived, others retain an air of abandonment around them (for the tourist value???)..... I had to smile at that colorful "COLOR TV " sign :)

Lasso Motel, Tucumcari, NM

And finally we took a pit-stop at Santa Rosa to eat at this Route 66 diner..the founding owners smiling from the menu (printed in the format of a local daily) were not easy to ignore, so they too made their way on to my memory card :)
PS: Is it me or does she remind you of Salma Hayek too????

I absolutely love traveling off the interstates to see an America that's disappearing. Yes, she does favor Selma a bit now that you mention it...

These somehow remind me of the Quentin T.'s Grindhouse movies!

the way the blue color of the truck is captured is a signature that you shot it :)

She definitely has "the look". I love going off the freeway and wandering the backroads.
I really, really want to do the Route 66 trip sometime. Its like being transported to another place and time.
I am really enkoying these pictures Moi.

No its not you. Maybe Salma, Champa or Ratna. Definitely not you.

Moi, I believe the tigers were pets at one point and then could not be taken care of. they became injured and ther was no chance of releasing them into the wild. domestication had injured their natural instincts.
I know and feel zoos can be offensive but considering the alternative for these animals i think this is a good solution.
Thanks for your thoughts. I appreciate them a lot.

It's not just you, Moi...she reminds me of Salma Hayek, too! I miss her. Where has she been lately?

I did a photo project last summer. I took photos all along Route 66, it took me 30 minutes - did I say Route 66 not the mother road but "The Route 66" bus route in East London,it finishes not far from where the Olympics will be held in 2012. :)

I love the series you've posted.

Keep up the good work Moi

Yes, that does look like Selma.

Love this trip you took.

At first glance I thought Demi Moore. But more like Selma, you're right.

Love the images, especially that Moi angle on top. :)
