I know summer has been long gone but I just felt like sharing these images of one of my favorite flowers before I lose them amidst thousands of images on my hard disk! Aren't poppies simply spectacular??? :)
"Summer set lip to earth's bosom bare,
And left the flush'd print in a poppy there;
Like a yawn of fire from the grass it came,
And the fanning wind puff'd it to flapping flame."-Francis Thompson

Love the red! :)
Perfect .. the flowers.. the photos... and the timing.
the light violet(what color is that?) flower besides the red one looks like a butterfly.
I love poppies too. Brings back childhood memories of my parents garden. Full of flowers and lots of Icelandic Poppies.
Thanks Moi.
there was a wild field of poppies on post when we were stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska....I used to love to drive by there. I always wanted to stop, but it was on air space, so I was scared to stop there!
these shots so remind me of those fields
i have missed ur photos
reminds of a book i just read, "sea of poppies - amitav ghosh"
the poppies he described were the ones used to make wrappers for opium!
yours look lovely!
You couldn't have said it better with images, Moi!
the first image, the 'noise' makes it better... very postcardish...
Thank you dear Moi, for this brilliant color :) I can't wait to see the brightly colored, tissue paper blossoms of poppies again!
I also love the little Bachelor's Buttons.
It's easy for photos to become lost amidst the multitudes on our hard drives, isn't it? I keep emptying mine (moving photos to my external HD and DVDs) so as to fit more on my HD :)
I hope you had a wonderfully blessed Thanksgiving with your dear husband.
