Mom's the wor(l)d! :)

.......That's the second time am using the title......the last time I did was for Mother's Day : http://mykodak.blogspot.com/2006/05/moms-world.html I must have almost forgotten about this pic as it was shot aeons ago when this camera was newly acquired......... The adorable 6-weeks old Tamani (that means "hope" in Swahili) was the town's darling.................Every afternoon he'd come out for a coupla hours to play in the sun and for public-viewing and we'd all go sighhhhh!!! It was such a wad of fun to see him playing in the sand and tho' it had its aunts and uncles around, it wud never leave his mom's side, nor would she move more than a few inches away from him ever!!!! :) I have a coupla more shots of him, which I would put up as soon as I can locate the CD they are on! It was a struggle to get to shoot him coz of the kids thronging up to watch the baby-elephant they all adored, am lucky I managed to get this one ............... Nevertheless, I was mighty thrilled with my brief date with Tamani :)

Earlier this year, there was a baby elephant born at the Calgary Zoo. His mommy refused to feed him. Although the caretakers took care, obviously it wasn't the same as mommy's love...and he died a few days later... I felt terrible, still do....:(

Reflex and Jas : they are the most adorable of the wild mammals...i too hate to see animals in cpativity but i guess zoos have their own purpose...and that brings me to jas' comment.......it must have been so sad....could be coz it was born in captivity?????

Gorgeous! Love elephants especially the babies. Lovely shot moi. :-)

I must dig out my old photos from Thailand. Went to the Elephant Training camp at Chang Mai and rode on one down the river. Fabulous experience.

Crazy Diamond : I was fascinated by Tamani, and I have a few versions with him being the prime focus..........this was captured coz of that tender moment (:D, here comes the natural maternal instincts of a woman)........thats shared between the mom and her recent-born.
shall put up Tamani's pics once i have more time to locate them.
And hey, Thanx for the regular inputs...i am more of an impulsive shooter and ur inputs make me "think" abt the whole photography thing.......... :)

Encantadora pareja, la madre con el bebe, parece mentira la delicadeza que emplea un animal tan fuerte cuando se trata de su cria.
Excelente foto.
Saludos.
