Fly like a bird!!!

These sea gulls were desperately trying to fly against the wind. In vain. Despite failing a zillion of times, they'd make a collective effort, every few minutes. Persistence!!! They'd shiver, fly a few feet, fail and give it a shot all over again.

I always get this yearning to fly when I see blue skies or birds in flight or even those undulating sea-waves...............For some strange reason the pic reminds me of Maya Angelou's words. Its beautiful, the way she's expressed the inherent desire for freedom in a living, breathing soul...........

The free bird leaps on the back of the win

and floats downstream till the current ends

and dips his wings in the orange sun rays

and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage

can seldom see through his bars of rage

his wings are clipped and his feet are tied

so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with fearful trill

of the things unknown but longed for still

and is tune is heard on the distant hill

for the caged bird sings of freedom.

The free bird thinks of another breeze

and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees

and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn

and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams

his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream

his wings are clipped and his feet are tied

so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill

of things unknown but longed for still

and his tune is heard on the distant hill

for the caged bird sings of freedom.

they were trying to form that 'V' shape that results in better aerodynamics...and the bird in front falls back after a while givign his place to some other one...

isnt that great...a collective effort to break through the barriers...and persistence..

freedom, longing..

Funny pic. Why are the waves slanted, the wind?

gathussa: i am glad u think so....:)

kunal : yeah it is..and thats what struck moi!!!

sarad: tremendously strong winds...we were hit by a tornado last week.....it caused quite some destruction in some parts......i wonder if sea gulls escaped the wrath of it !!!!

Reminds me of the time when I read Jonathan Livingston Seagull back in the '90s (hehe... '90s... makes one sound ancient)! The copy had some amazing shots of seagulls as well...

I always wanted to fly too... Waiting for the summer to do the next best thing - sky-diving :D

adding Maya Angelou to this photo project was dead on! She's a great author and humanitarian.
