The Elixir of Life!!!

Mar 22nd is recognized as the World Water Day by United Nations and this year's theme is "Coping with Water Scarcity: Challenge of the 21st Century". The experts have divided opinions about how deep the crisis is as of today, but then as UN report says there are tons of silent crises, millions of people deprived of the water they need to live and to sustain their livelihood. In short, "Save Water"!!! Every drop is precious :)

Moi, you are so right about water being the "elixir of life". We can't live without it. It is important that we remember to conserve. Too many of us are profligate with our water usage.

Moi,

I'm glad we did our part, however small, to remind people about Water Day. If only Americans would turn theirs lawn sprinklers off some minutes earlier, how much water would that save?

thats such an apt title, no one knows that better than me :), its making my skin glow, hair grow thicker and keeping me healthy :), and such a surreal shot, it reminds me of the time we drove through a river and the water was hurled all around the windows in the very same manner.

Hmmm... have to say am a little in two minds on this one....

The problem is not one of insufficient resource (water), but of inadequate distribution. In such a scenario, conservation is usually not of much use.

To illustrate my point, shutting the sprinlers off a few minutes earlier, is not going to provide the water in the water starved in india. That water will just go into the ocean through the rivers. So, how does that help in anyway?

But at the same time, something like water-harvesting in the city of chennai, obviously has a huge benefit, as it replenishes the underground water table, and makes available more water for agriculture in and around chennai.

Hope you catch my drift as to why I am in two minds.... but I guess conserving water can't hurt at the minimum... :)
