"Another Brick In The Wall"

Wall1

Wall 2

I am back from my trip and though it was my second trip to Key West in less than two months I am not the least bit surprised that we chanced upon facets of the Conch Republic that we had missed earlier. It's one of Florida's most culturally distinct parts and every nook and corner is seeped in its own special character. Unlike the flamboyant colors in some other parts of Florida, the colors in Key West in their own unique way, blend with the immediate environment.

These shots are of a store where I picked up 2 bright shorts(in pink and yellow, they are the cutest :DD) unabashedly proclaiming my love for the island. I was told that in Key West, behind every storefront you’ll find surprises and personalities. Funny, the storekeeper was an Indian from Pune and the shorts are "Made In India". lol!!!

Welcome back, I hope that you had a great time.
The brickwork in the photo is amazing - the texture & pattern of the colors of the bricks - is it due to fading caused by the sunlight & weather?

Welcome back and new shorts are great souveniers. Funny that they were made in India.
Nice textures in the brick shots Moi.

Great title to go with the photos. I've noticed in may of our souvenir shops that OUR souvenirs are usually made in China or India.

You won't believe this Moi, but you can count on your fingers and toes the number of Indians who live here. And just through blogging I was able to see your world!

Thank you for stopping by my blog! I really enjoy your photos. "Drenched" is absolutely beautiful! You know, I work with a girl who spent a summer driving a carriage on Mackinac Island. She didn't have shoes like that, though :)

The Smokies are one of things I miss most about living in Tennessee.

I think I know exactly where this is. There was a pepper (hot sauce) store here that I think just closed down.

I miss Key West. I can't believe I haven't been able to make it there this year. Glad you had a great trip!

It's nice to see you back. Indian diaspora is a strong reality...
A superb capture of an old wall!

That lamp/lantern looks so small way up there high on the wall. Doesn't seem like it would shed much light!

Re: your shopkeeper...more proof of a small world. I love having little moments like that. :)

I've been to Key West twice, though not in the same month, and found that there were wonderful sights to see and people to talk with and clothes to buy. I think we might be good traveling companions, Moi.

Key West always sounds elegant and sophisticated to me, in a beachy sort of way. Have never been there. The shorts sound cute!

thanks for sending the link to that article...i went over and read it. SO FRUSTRATING!!!

i just sent about 20 e-mails to the white house....none of which will get read. i'm afraid my little 'ole voice isn't going to be enough to stop the devastation of my mountains.......

Hi Moi, thank you for all your Wichita visits and comments. Interesting to know you recognized my header on the travel brochure. Kansas is not a state known for tourists, but it is a nice place to live.

Your brick wall photos reminds me of the walls some people build within, to hide behind. But yours has windows - possibly windows to the soul of the red brick building.
