The Mother Road
A few weeks back we took a li'l trip down the Illinois section of the famed Route 66. It was a fun filled day replete with sights that included murals , vintage advertising signs, all sorts of memorabilia, restored eateries, and modest Midwestern downtowns. I was click-happy like a child. Here I share some of the several :)

The reluctant remains
"Ah, when to the heart of man
Was it ever less than a treason
To go with the drift of things,
To yield with a grace to reason,
And bow and accept the end
Of a love or a season. " Robert Frost

Reflections
No, I'm not resorting to brand-dropping in the background......but since I get driven around more often than I drive, I have all these "looking back" shots that I feel the need to share every now and then :)
And just in case you missed the earlier post, a friend's running a 26 miles marathon this June in San Diego to raise funds for cancer research. His mother's a breast cancer survivor of several years and his close cluster of family and friends has unfortunately not been free of cancer-related diseases. Please do have a look at his website here and pass the word around and/or donate if you can. Thank you :)

"I am Powerful"
Our daily routine is composed of countless visual assaults: billboards that do nothing for the landscape. As someone said, "advertising's constant mission to creep into every corner of our lives". But every once in a while, and I have to hand it to the Madison Avenue, they come up with something that jolts you into looking beyond your immediate needs. Care.org has been creating some very "powerful" ads and on an issue close to my heart: focus on women's innate power in fighting the global poverty. I decided to put it up here as my final contribution to Project Yellow.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to mention about this friend who's running a 26 miles marathon this June in San Diego to raise funds for cancer research. His mother's a breast cancer survivor of several years and his close cluster of family and friends has unfortunately not been free of cancer-related diseases. Please do have a look at his website here and pass the word around and/or donate if you can. Thank you for listening and have a great week ahead :)

"It's 5 o' clock somewhere"
Spring's been such a tease in these parts. Just when we were beginning to shed warm clothing, chill's back in the air. It's not the sun that I miss as much as the lack of activity in these parts due to chilly temps. My husband misses Florida sunshine far more than he thought he would. These sunny images from our earlier trips to Key West are for him. Anna, they take care of the Project Yellow too, don't they :)

Project Yellow :)
Anna started this and now everyone in the blogging world has caught on to it. Here's my first contribution to "Project Yellow". Hope you like it, Anna! Spotted the bench outside a mechanic's garage. It oozes character, don't you think!!!! :)

Homewards bound
Again I have nothing new to share as it ended up being one of the busiest weeks ever since I started working. So here's one from the times we spent in and around New York. Squint hard and see if you can spot Lady Liberty in the image!!! :)
