Dog Day Afternoon!

Dog Day Afternoon

Dog Day Afternoon!

Say Hello to Cinnamon! She's no ordinary dog and she isn’t just good at cuddling, she’s a life saver too. Met her and her owner a few afternoons ago and the lady had some stories to tell.

The faithful canine is trained to take care of the deaf and has been a companion to her owner who has hearing impairments, for the last 13 years of her life. The dog's aging now and it was so evident. It's a quiet dog and rested almost all the time we were there. 13 years for a dog is equivalent to almost 75 years of human life. Cinnamon's a grand old lady, really!!! And all through these 13 years, Cinnamon has come to her owner's rescue several times apart from helping her through her daily life. As she told us, "Whenever I have a bad day, she always delivers" :)

I have never owned a pet though I always badly wanted to ....right from a bunny to a pup, every summer vacations we (that's my brother and I) demanded one but in vain. I hope to own a houseful of them some day. :) If you own a four legged friend, don't forget to give her a belly rub tonight!

PS: I wanted this pic in Black and White but the reason for Cinnamon being named so would have been lost, so I retained the color.

Thanks for your visit to my photo blog. I have enjoyed looking through your photos. Isn't this dog a wonderful colour. We hear so much about dogs for the blind; I had never realised that there were dogs for the deaf.

Good choice on the color image moi! :) There really is nothing like the companionship of a four-legged, furry friend! :)

Lovely photo and a story to match (which touched a nerve, since we lost our golden last year).
By all means, give a dog a second chance by adopting him/her, but if your lives will be hectic, consider an adult dog (it would be unfair to a young, active puppy).

Happy weekend!

Moi, my mom never allowed us to have pets, so I understand your desire to have one! Funny, I have a friend in FL whose dog's name is Canela, that's the word in Spanish/Portuguese for Cinnamon! In our conference calls sometimes we heard him bark and everyone would say: Canela! Boy, do I miss those calls.

Chica, Cienna, and Cali said...

Isabella : I am sorry abt ur retriever... and I promise we will not adopt one till we are sure we are capable of giving it utmost attention. :)

Cris : U have a friend here!! so when are u making ur way to Florida?? We have to meet whenever u do!!! :)

yes your right, the impact of her name would have been lost in B&W..
And thank you your comment is very much appreciated..

Hi Moi, Before you get your pets, be sure to do your research. Different animals and breeds have different personalities and needs. Research will help you find a companion animal that matches with your personality and needs. And once you've found your match(es), you and your companion(s) will be happy ever after.

That's my wisdom for the day.

Can you tell that I learned the above the hard way - and so did my earlier companions.
