On a shoe-string budget???

On a shoe string .....

On a shoe-string budget??

Very unlikely. As a Dutch proverb goes, "Don't throw away your old shoes until you have got new ones."......Someone seems to a have a coupla pair too many ;)

That beautiful!!!! An unreal image, a dream....

Nice photograph. It reminds me of a few US college towns I passed through. What is the deal with these tossed shoes?

I keep my old shoes even *after* I get new ones, to use in the rain and mud, etc.

LOVE this image....I love how you framed it and I love the tone...

HERE IS TO LOOKING UP! :)

Toothless Wonder: thank u and there's a reason why the sky's darker above the shoes...this has been taken from the car window , and just above the shoes, the car's tinted part of the glass made it darker..worked for me :)

Ruth. thank u. flung across????

Granati, Nazzareno : thank u :)

Z : I will not know...i too save them for a rainy day and we have plenty of them here in Florida or I send them for recycling...there are several urban myths associated with them....this was shot near my school's football playground..so there has to be an association with it.

Sarad : it's currently showing on mine ;)

Anna : haha ..looking up doesn't always show empty Florida skies :)

Great shot, Moi, and the shading is beautiful (you used that tinted window well!).

Great shot.I used to see that on the lines at our last house. Here all the lines are underground, so no more spare pairs...

Mois, that's a wonderful photo. I've got to remember that proverb - your photo will help assure that I do.

My finger slipped when I was posting the hospital picture and it got published before I'd written the words. All is well again - thank you for checking.

Moi,
Thanks for visiting my blog, I like your blog also very much, I also added your link on my blog as : favorite blogs I read...

This is a very questionable picture...
What does it mean?
Why are this shoes hanging there?

Pretty that you made it in a 'sepia' colour, very well done.

Greetings from JoAnn from Holland

Photowannabe : Oh i am yet to see a place where all lines are underground.....and thank u :)

Annie: Thanx for reconfirming it .Wish him the speediest of recoveries :)

Joann : I wish i could answer your questions..its a pretty common sight in Urban US...and there are several myths that come with it ..and thanx for linking my blog to yours.U are already on mine :)

Hi Moi,
I have read somewhere that gangs throw shoes over the telegraph lines to mark out their territory.
I like the image though, how it goes from light to dark.

Cheers Mark

Nice idea to arrange its shoes...

Nice shot. Must be a universal impulse. I've seen shoes on power/phone lines everywhere I've lived.

Yoda said...

Wow that's high up! Someone must've taken a lot of time to get those all the way up there ;-)

This is a fantastic shot! I love it! Great tone and composition.
Something I see almost everyday and never thought to shoot!

This is a wonderful shot! I love everything about it.

We still see shoes hanging from electric wire occasionally. I never thought about taking a picture though.

Nice shot but have you not posted something similar earlier too?

Ben Nakagawa said...

Thanks for comment on my blog. Moi. I'm going to posit similar on tomorrow but just slightly different composition. Yes, those are same place and same jetty.

This one is very artistic and goo choice of sepia tone. I like that yo kept large space under the main subject and lighter tone to indicating space. Great work.

Interesting shot, very good composition..! I liked it...well done Moi!

Since it's still raining here, this Irish proverb comes to mind: "It's no use carrying an umbrella if your shoes are leaking."

Fun photo!

It's a joy to come back and see those shoes still hanging there.

Yes, all is well at my house - and quiet enough for napping, too.

Tossing out good sneakers seems to be somthing kids do these days. Someone at the photo workshop had a related image of shoes on power lines and it evoked a long discussion of supposed meanings attached to doing this - delineating gang territory, drug dealing, just fun. The conclusion was that whatever meanings may once have been attachede, it is now done for lots of different reasons.

Funny shot ! Wonder who did this :)

Finding that always makes me laugh - and wonder how they got up there in the first place:)

This is hysterical, Moi, every time I see it wherever. I actually think I saw something like this here in Amsterdam a couple trips ago. So that Dutch proverb is quite appropriate. :)
