This was shot in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist at Savannah where we took refuge from the intermittent rains. I had almost forgotten about it till I saw Ash's beautiful "Prayer" post today. This elderly gentleman's head bowed in prayer compelled me to take this image though I generally will let people be alone in their intensely private moments.
I have lived a little more than the quarter of a century on this earth and as I grow, my faith acquires different dimensions too. It's no more religious but it's as powerful as ever in the smallest of the creations and acts and beliefs. As we all start a new week, all I want to say is Keep the faith :)

I like this shot a lot. I couldn't have made it though. The mirror flapping up would sound like a gunshot in a quiet place like this.
Trust me John , it looks silent and empty but it was full of people who could not go out due to rain and though there were only two people in prayer , there were tons of us tourists clicking away the cathedral's interiors!
Hi Moi,
Good start of any day of the week!

Question, (I'm wondering 2 , is at the side where you live in Florida, the same /sunny weather as Isabella's in Florida?)
Wow!! How deep. How intense. What profound statements. My consciousness has been kindled. I am a changed human being :DD
Beautiful composition!!
Personally, I'll rate beer over faith, but that's just me ;-)
Hi Moi,
Its a good job you didn't put him on a 'Moi angle' otherwise he would have fell out of the pew.
Really nice shot though.
Cheers Mark
Very fragile shot Moi!!
It has got two wonderful elements in it.
The first one is the softness of the light…and the other one is the ambience. I can certainly feel the silence. The black and white effect enhanced the emotional quality!
Very good…keep it up!
(I replied to your comment on my blog)
You wanna fight, young lady?? Come in here and throw your punches in the ring. I ain't scared of your threats :P
Thanks Moi for reacting, I wonder where (what city & country) you + Hus will celebratse your anniversary in December?
Just let me know by the time you go ok? :)

Nice capture of the mood of this cathedral Moi. I love your composition.
What a nice shot! So Peaceful.
That's a great image.
Interesting use of the word refuge in this context at the start of your post. The one who were there to pray and the ones (simply) taking shelter from the rain :-)
yo! keep the faith!
Beautiful place to seek refuge from the rain, Beautiful shot!!

ah...am i missing something here?
A great shot, Moi.
The tones, especially on the gentleman praying, are fabulous.
Beautiful B&W.
A splendid image, intense and meaningful, that brings to thousand considerations and reasonings.
Also to make photos, is, in his small, a search of God.
It's a sweet photo. Keep having faith, we need positive energy in the world.
evocative.... it always moves me to see someone praying and humbling themselves before God....
lovely, my dear....
beautifull pic perfectly taken!!! really a good shot!!!
You tell an entire story in one shot. I like your choice of black and white too. We all need to keep the faith.
This is one of my favourites of yours now. Great image!
I like a lot the composition of your image. The B&W works very well with your subject.
Really great Moi! I am very fond of black and white tones especially in images that seem so quiet. Very nice.
Thank you Moi!!
Its a wonderful image. Very moving.
Seems like the Good Lord was using the rain to steer you into the Cathedral and stir your thoughts.

What a compellingly lovely photo of faith, Moi. Thank you for this image today. Its quietness inspires me.
Hi Moi, I instantly liked the black and white of this photo, and the way it blends in with the black framing of your blog. Nice! It looks as if the light is shining mostly on this gentleman's head, making his moment of prayer the focus of the photo. You don't think he's praying for rain, do you? :0
what a beautifully moving photo! well captured!
what dimensions does your faith acquire?
Really a beautiful shot, full of meaning!
Tranquility, Humility, Peace.
At peace with yourself is the best place one can possibly be.
Wonderful shot. Brava!
I think perhaps you will enjoy my photos from a European Cathedral that I took last Saturday. They're posted at

B&W is good here ;]
i like the black and white. works well in this photo.
So many times lately it has been difficult to keep the faith. But photos such as this certainly help because of their power.
Great capture of a beautiful, silent moment.
