I am continuing to dig into archives for the moment! The Arch Rock that looks out onto Lake Huron at Mackinac Island is a favorite photo-opp site for the tourists. We too (armed with camera) decided to pay it homage when we visited the island this June. But what fascinated me the most were the Native American legends associated with it. My favorite version: the Arch was formed when a beautiful Indian maiden's tears washed away the limestone bluff as she waited in vain for her lover to return. The romantic in me can't resist the legend :P
A little walk from the rock and one gets greeted by this vista....made more precious to me by the twin lights. Though one can't see it clearly here, the farther light, Round Island Lighthouse, now restored, is a darned pretty building.
I know there's been an overload of "blues" on this space lately (pun intended) but When I need to escape from the realities of life, blue is the only color that will do it for me. So there!!! And for the ones concerned, I defend my thesis in 3 days from today!!!!

Beautiful photos, Moi; I really love the lighthouses.
Blue does that to me, too :)
Good luck on the defense!
The arch is pretty amazing! And I am a lover of lighthouses too. They have such mystery about them.

Mackinac looks soo inviting!
Of all the years I spent in the midwest, I didn't make it there or for that matter to Traverse city. Now, I gotta pay for airfare to see these places :-((
Hi Moi, Great shots again, therefore your name must be MOI! haha I posted some funny cows,

i love legends like that, too! great shots!
3 days... wow! i just said a little prayer for you.... best of luck, moi!
Counting down! These are wonderful views and photos.
you really do have an eye for good pictures...especially the first one...its your eye for the beauty that i like more than the camera-work.
Lovely arch. It reminds me of a place in the south of England.
Cool legend, indeed ;)
Blue is my favorite color.
joli variation de bleu. Pour la 2 ça penche un peu non! le mal de mer?
I will be thinking of you on Tuesday Moi. As I said before, you are going to blow them away with your defense.
I love all the blue too. It is a soothing color.
absolutely beautiful photos. That arch is fantastic.
The romantic in me loves that legend too; what a beautiful view through the arch. You must be feeling quite nervous but you've worked so hard and I really hope you have no problems. Will be thinking of you. The course I'm on cover Sociology, Literature and History and is intended as an access to Hgher Education (Humanities and Social Science). The aim for most students is to then go on to University....I don't think I'll be in a position to do that....but hopefully (as long as I get through it) it will prove to future employers that I'm not past it! LOL

Would it help if you were tapping a baseball bat in your hand when you were delivering your thesis??

the pictures are beautiful - and i've gotten bored of saying the same thing time and again.
so show us some fireworks next.

PS: the first picture reminds me of a rock called fatu-ma-futi some place in the south pacific.
Today is Tuesday and I am thinking about you all day. Do well on your defense.

I love the arch rock photo!!
Both of these are gorgeous. I love the arch one especially. I have to stop and take all the tourist shots myself. I also like time to explore and get some shots just for me, but I never pass up the ones handed to me even if everyone else on the planet stood there and took the same shot.
You have some amazing photos Moi this arch is wonderful (actually reminds me of one from my last hols. will post) and love the legend.
I'm late so know the outcome and congratulations iare in order but had a pretty good feeling you'd do it :-) Well done, enjoy!
PS Sorry about the no entry on my blog I was mesing around with it, playing with the options and thought I'd left it as normal. Thank you for persevereing. :-)
